Superintendent Addresses Monday Schedule

Kendall Purser
Editor

After receiving numerous calls about this years Monday schedule for students, Bonneville School District 93 Superintendent, Dr. Scott Woolstenhulme, sent the following letter to parents:

Dear D93 Families,

From the number of questions we’ve received this week, it sounds that we haven’t done a great job on communicating the schedule for Mondays this year. I apologize for any confusion and frustration this has caused.

On August 3rd, we sent a newsletter to families with back-to-school information that included a page about our Monday schedules.  Today, we also posted a video to YouTube  (https://youtu.be/2WGanlQoQRY) to provide more clarification about our schedule.

Here are the key things to know about Monday schedules:

Elementary students will not attend school on the 1st, 3rd, or 5th Mondays every month.

  • These days will be used for elementary teachers to collaborate together to better support students.

7th - 12th grade students will attend school for half a day every Monday from 8:40 am - 12:15 pm.

  • Monday mornings will be primarily used to provide students with extra time, help, and support.
  • Lunch will be provided from 12:15 pm - 12:40 pm
  • Buses will pick up students at regular times in the morning and will pick students up from school at 12:40 pm

Students may be excused from attending classes on Mondays by their teachers after the first few weeks of each trimester. These students will be provided with opportunities to extend their learning at home, but still may attend school if they wish to.

Teachers and schools should notify families by the Friday before if their students are excused from school on Monday.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. And, again, I apologize for any inconvenience and frustration that we’ve caused if we didn’t communicate this clearly before.

Sincerely,

Dr. Scott Woolstenhulme

Superintendent

Rebranded Schools Welcome Back Students

Kendall Purser
Editor

With school starting up next week, some students will be returning to schools with a new look, or a new mascot.

Sandcreek Middle School began the rebranding process at the end of the school year last year with a new dragon icon and new school colors to match Hillcrest High School more closely. Rocky Mountain Middle School rebranded over the summer changing from the Panthers to the Stingers, and changing their school colors as well to green, gold, and white to match Bonneville High School.

Lockers were repainted to match the new colors, and other updates were made in both middle schools. New carpet, polished cement floors, and new paint in the halls are just a handful of the improvements made over the summer. Students can also look forward to new uniforms and other sports equipment this year along with these changes.

With the opening of Black Canyon Middle School this year, each high school in Bonneville School District 93 is fed by a single middle school. This made it a perfect time to rebrand the middle schools to better support their associated high schools.
